"Birth of a Movement"
Bud Werner Memorial Library presents a film about the battle against America's first blockbuster — a documentary by Susan Gray and Bestor Cram. In 1915, Boston-based African American newspaper editor and activist William M. Trotter waged a battle against D.W. Griffith’s technically groundbreaking but notoriously Ku Klux Klan-friendly film, "The Birth of a Nation," unleashing a fight that still rages today about race relations, media representation and the power and influence of Hollywood. "Birth of a Movement," based on Dick Lehr's book "The Birth of a Movement: How Birth of a Nation Ignited the Battle for Civil Rights," captures the backdrop to this prescient clash between human rights, freedom of speech and a changing media landscape.

1964: The Tribute
"1964: The Tribute" takes its audiences on a musical journey to a nostalgic era in rock history. In an authentic and endearing tribute, the group recreates early live Beatles' concerts from 1964, with period clothing, hairstyles, and onstage banter. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' historic Carnegie Hall appearance. They look and sound like The Beatles. The performance, professionalism and musicianship make the illusion complete. Band members are Mark Benson as John Lennon, Graham Alexander as Paul McCartney, Tom Work as George Harrison, and Bobby Potter as Ringo Starr.
